The InterContinental Paris Le Grand is a legendary hotel that first opened in 1862.
Commissioned by brothers Isaac and Émile Pereire and designed by architect Alfred Armand—who also created the nearby Grand Hôtel du Louvre—the hotel began construction in April 1861. It was inaugurated on May 5, 1862, by Empress Eugénie, wife of Napoleon III, and officially opened on June 30 of the same year. Occupying an entire triangular city block, the hotel sits in the very heart of Paris, just steps from many of the city’s most celebrated landmarks.
